Your Role at AEROC
AEROC develops multi-sensing technologies that combine remote sensing, drone-based measurements, and proximal sensing to provide high-resolution soil information for Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) project developers. Our models reduce measurement costs and enable the identification of economically attractive project sites for long-term CO₂ sequestration worldwide. In doing so, we address one of the main barriers to scaling ERW: the lack of precise knowledge about soil heterogeneity.
As a Data Scientist in Remote Sensing, you will help build the core of our technology. You will develop models that process satellite, drone, and soil data, predict soil parameters, and generate heatmaps for ERW projects. Your work directly impacts the scientific quality, scalability, and credibility of our services for project developers, farmers, and certification bodies.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of algorithms for analyzing satellite, drone, and soil data in the context of agriculture, soil processes, and geochemistry
- Structuring, preprocessing, and processing of remote sensing data
- Validation of model results and model quality
- Development of operational software for the evaluation of remote sensing data
- Integration of model outputs into our digital platform (heatmaps, layers, APIs)
- Collaboration with scientific institutions on methodological and technical development
What You Bring
- Completed university degree (Master’s, Diploma or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Geoinformatics, Physical Geography or a related field
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge in statistics, data science, and machine learning (ML)
- Confident use of Python and common libraries for data science and ML
- Experience working with geospatial or raster data is desirable
- Experience with big data, parallelization, and cloud computing is an advantage
- Knowledge of optical and radar remote sensing is an advantage
- Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) is an advantage
- Experience in analyzing hyperspectral data is an advantage
- Knowledge of sensor technology and satellite remote sensing theory is an advantage
- Fluent English skills, both written and spoken
